Atlanta’s Chairman says the team aims to finish in the Top 4 at the VSA Club Championships

The Atlanta’s Chairman Shalen Singh expressed that his club can’t wait to take part in the upcoming VSA Champs Cup. “Atlanta Volleyball Team is extremely excited to be participating in this year’s VSA Club Championships given that COVID-19 has previously impacted on all volleyball activities”, Chairman Shalen alluded.

He further indicated that they have put together a combination of young and experienced players and they believe that the team will endeavor to compete at Champs Cup “the highly-rated competition” even though they had limited time for preparations.

According to Shalen their main goal for this year’s champs cup is to finish in the top 4. “We have also signed an experienced coach by the name of Matthew Govender with his knowledge of the game and the capable players that we have in our team, we believe that our dream of finishing in top 4 will come true”, Shalen expressed.
The VSA PR and Media Director, Jacob Thamaga had a chat with Chairman Shalen and this is how the conversation unfolded;

We saw Atlanta finishing as the champions at the GVU tournament, does that mean Atlanta stands a good chance of qualifying  for the Zonal Club Championships?
Firstly, we were happy to participate in the recent GVU tournament and to our surprise, we exceeded all our expectations to be crowned the champions despite not being fully prepared for the tournament. Secondly, we are thankful to GVU for hosting an open tournament to prepare clubs for the Club Champs.

Atlanta is drawn in Pool A to face UKZN  from KZN and Galavandale from Eastern Cape. The question of the day remains, will the team and the coach make the chairman happy?
